We Are BK Campaign Progress

WE ARE Our History

In September of 1960, Bishop Kelley High School opened its doors and welcomed its first class of nearly 700 students. Combining the student bodies from Marquette and Holy Family High Schools, Bishop Kelley became the first co-institutional Catholic high school in what is now the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma.

WE ARE Building for the Future

Our vision for today is to build upon Bishop Kelley’s history and expand our ability to live out the sacred mission that has been entrusted to us. These projects benefit every student who walks our halls today as well as in the future.

ENDOWMENT

WE ARE creating opportunities

BK educators understand that the mission they are part of each day is much larger than the individual classrooms they occupy. A strong endowment provides the annual earnings necessary to allow more students to attend Bishop Kelley.

Bishop Kelley’s Endowment serves to provide funds for tuition assistance to more than one in every five students; however, this does not fully fund the need. This campaign seeks to strengthen the school’s endowment to provide ongoing support of student access through increased tuition assistance.

STUDENT GREENS & PORCH

WE ARE creating

safer spaces

Research shows that outdoor green spaces on campus have positive mental and physical effects on students. We have intentionally provided space for students to gather and appreciate God’s natural creation.

The exterior design of the new dining hall features a porch and student greens where members of  the BK Community gather before school, during lunch, and after school.

NEW DINING HALL

WE ARE fostering a healthy community

We strive to nourish our students both spiritually and physically. We need to not only feed them with the good news of the Gospel, but do all we can to promote healthy choices, lifestyles and life-long habits.

RENOVATING CAFETERIA INTO NEW CLASSROOMS

WE ARE academic excellence

Amplifying education and technology for thriving in a modern world.

New classrooms where the old cafeteria were are focused on improving academic excellence, facilitating different types of instruction and supporting a 21st-century school environment.

Renovated classrooms are larger in size to feature collaborative learning spaces, updated technology and flexible layouts that more fully promote critical thinking practices reflected in today’s work environments.

New Gym Entrance

Bishop Kelley is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for students, faculty and staff while also providing a welcoming and inviting entrance experience for prospective students, visiting parents and volunteers.

The new gym entrance and visitor’s parking lot on the south side of our gyms have helped make our campus more secure. Utilizing the new, secured entrance to the gyms, visiting guests no longer need to enter the full campus to attend games and tournaments during the school day.

RENOVATING COMMONS INTO CLASSROOMS

WE ARE developing the whole person

Bishop Kelley is dedicated to expanding academic excellence in all areas. In recent school years, BK has implemented new systems of measuring student performance and teaching effectiveness through data assessments. We are also dedicated to recruiting, developing and retaining mission-driven educators. A key aspect of this goal is to also provide spaces that maximize success for all students.

Relocating the Theology Department

Let us remember we are in the Holy presence of God. Live Jesus in our Hearts...Forever!

Bishop Kelley’s Catholic identity is at the heart of everything we do; we are always reminded of the presence of Christ in our lives. Though this is a core tenet of our Catholic mission, the former Theology space did not adequately reflect the role faith education plays at Bishop Kelley.

As part of the strategic plan, the Theology curriculum is being updated to better meet the challenge of catechizing students in the current day and age.

Our Campaign Prayer

Almighty and ever-loving God,
You are the source of all Truth,
You prepare us with graces to live a purposeful life.

As Your disciples, we are called
to carry on the teaching ministry of Jesus Christ,
to serve the poor and the vulnerable,
to recognize the dignity of all persons,
and to be a welcoming BK community.

Watch over Bishop Kelley in this campaign;
help us to honor the legacy of those
who have gone before us,
inspire us to be generous
so we can find success in advancing the mission entrusted to us,
guide us in building our future,
and instill in us joy serving You now and forever.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen

Thank you!

Our vision today is to build upon Bishop Kelley’s more than 63 year history of carrying on the teaching ministry of Jesus Christ. This campaign will expand our ability to live out this mission and will benefit every student who walks our halls. These efforts require significant investments and bold leadership!

Thank you for the opportunity to share the impact you can have on our school and the wider Tulsa community through this campaign.

In Christ,
