Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for various duties within facilities and maintenance, including

grounds and property maintenance.


Essential Job Functions

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Catholic values and the promotion of the associated culture within a Catholic school
  • Opens buildings daily throughout the campus as well as disarming alarm systems.
  • Assists in proactively reviewing various buildings throughout the campus on a daily basis for system effectiveness and maintenance issues
  • Assist in trouble shooting various alarm systems and may serve as a backup on the call list for the security alarm system
  • Assists Manager with any electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues as requested.
  • Assists in maintaining lawn and equipment and irrigation systems
  • Maintains all lawns, fields and grounds, including mowing of designated areas, trimming bushes and trees, weed control, fertilizing, and any general landscaping as required such as planting, mulching and hedge trimming.
  • Cleans and removes debris from outside areas, including outside trash can maintenance
  • Assists in maintaining parking areas, driveways and walk ways during inclement weather
  • Assist with various deliveries including unloading and movement around the campus.
  • Assist in set up and tear down for various other activities including sporting events
  • Assists in moving desks and other furniture throughout the campus as needed

Physical Demands

  • Lifting up to 60 lbs unassisted
  • Frequent prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, climbing and walking.
  • Prolonged periods of outdoor exposure in all elements
  • Operate heavy equipment
  • Manual dexterity for typing and equipment operation

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous grounds and property maintenance preferred
  • Ability to work independently, multi task and prioritize various projects and needs
  • Previous electrical, mechanical, and plumbing experience a plus
