The 2014 State Championship Academic Bowl Team competed at Nationals in Washington, D.C. May 30-June 2. The team was guaranteed 6 matches, 3 on Friday and 3 on Saturday.  Their scores in those 6 matches will determine if they advance to the playoffs on Sunday .

The team includes Captain Wyatt Evans, Peter Simmons, Matt Goldsmith, and Devin Raine. They are coached by Medea Bendel. Before the competition, the team and some family members met with Congressman Jim  Bridenstine and toured the Capitol.

The team wanted to share this with the BK family, “We go with high aspirations, but also with heavy hearts. The team has decided to dedicate our trip to the memory of fellow Comets Isaac Cook and Brock Norton. We are making and wearing ribbons in their honor for the competition. Isaac and Brock were both men of strong perseverance, dedication and above all, love. They deserve to be honored because they made such an impact on so many lives. The team would appreciate prayers this week for success in competition but also for the Norton and Cook families."
