Clubs & Organizations

There’s more to school than readin’, writin’ and ‘rithmetic. It is our duty as teenagers to devote a fair portion of our time at Kelley to exercising the fun part of our brains, and there are many, many ways to do so. What interests you? What are you curious about that you’ve never tried? There’s a group of like-minded folks you need to meet.

Academic Bowl

Academic Bowl competition at Bishop Kelley began in 1993 and remains very active. Sponsored by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA), Academic Bowl involves four-member teams who compete at the state and local levels beginning in September/October and ending in February. To provide competition for students of differing experience levels, Bishop Kelley belongs to the 10-team Eastern Oklahoma Academic Conference, which competes from October through January. Competition requires knowledge and quick recall. Any student may try out.

Competitive Speech, Drama and Debate

Bishop Kelley’s Speech, Drama and Debate program is among the best in the state. Bishop Kelley teams have won the Speech and Debate Regional Tournament every year for over a decade.

Concert and Jazz Choirs

Bishop Kelley offers three excellent concert and jazz choirs: Concert Choir is the school’s primary ensemble. The class performs a wide range of musical styles. Students will learn the basics of music sight-reading, theory and history.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Members gather regularly in fellowship. Meetings may include guest speakers, films, games, field trips, or discussion of teenage problems.

Kelley Krazies

The Kelley Krazies promote school spirit and cooperation. Beyond supporting the athletic teams at games, the group helps sponsor pep rallies, fall/winter homecoming activities, and a Kidfest carnival in the fall. Meeting times vary. Everyone is invited to join!

Spirit Squad

The Bishop Kelley Spirit Squad promotes school spirit at athletic competitions. The football and basketball squad tryouts are held in the spring. Tryouts are officiated by National Cheerleading Association certified judges whenever possible. Sophomore, junior and senior girls who hold a minimum grade point average of 2.5 may participate. Freshman football and basketball cheerleaders are selected during a separate tryout.

Student Leadership

This groups links students, faculty and administration and sponsors social, educational and service activities throughout the year. The student body elects officers in the spring. Classes select their representatives in the fall. Any student may serve on Student Council.
