Flu Shots for BK Students and Families

On Wednesday, October 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Occupational Health, Inc. will be at Bishop Kelley in the Stephenson Family Library Meeting Room to administer the flu vaccine to the Bishop Kelley students and parents.  As you know, people are most susceptible to contracting the flu when confined in spaces with a large number of people.  Getting an annual flu vaccine is the first and best way to protect yourself and your family from the flu.

The Quadrivalent Flu shot (protects against 4 strains of flu) will be available and costs $35. FluMist was not recommended by the CDC for distribution in the United States again this year because of poor effectiveness. Unfortunately that means it will not be available.

Every student being vaccinated must have a consent form filled out and signed before receiving the vaccine. It is attached, along with a flier containing more information about the vaccine. In addition to the signed consent form, students will need to have a check made payable to OHI or cash in the amount of $35 for the Quadrivalent Shot. Credit and Debit cards will also be accepted. If sending cash, please put in an envelope with the signed consent form with your student’s name clearly marked on the outside.

The consent form and payment must be returned to school by Wednesday, October 25. Parents and grandparents are welcome to come and get the flu vaccine as well. Occupational Health is only able to file your insurance if it is Community Care. The nurse will be able to provide a receipt /proof of flu shot for you to turn in to all other insurance companies.  Please make sure to ask for this at the time of service.
