Believe in Kelley Annual Fund reaches midpoint of record $500,000 goal

We are excited to announce that as of January 1st, Believe in Kelley (BiK), Bishop Kelley's annual fund, had surpassed the halfway point to its goal of $500,000 for the 2016-17 school year.

The $252,284 contributed at this point in the fiscal year has been achieved thanks to the generosity and goodwill of our 335 benefactors. If you have not made your gift to the Annual Fund, please consider doing so today to help us reach or even surpass our goal.

Current parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, faculty, and other friends of BK are making financial sacrifices to maintain high levels of academic excellence for more than 900 students enrolled.  Individual gifts have ranged from $25 to $10,000 and they all help in allowing BKHS to provide a wonderful learning environment.

The funds we continue to raise today through June 30, 2017 will fund projects for each and every current and future student at Bishop Kelley High School. This year the funds from the BiK annual fund drive will go toward Furniture, Frequency and Financial Aid.

Tuition income covers the cost of operating the school; however, tuition does not cover the cost of special projects that are provided only by the generosity of donors to Believe in Kelley.

The school needs furniture to replace cafeteria seating and tables that are older than our students. Also, new furniture is needed in the Commons and Main Office where students, parents and guests congregate on a daily basis.

“Frequency” refers to a new school-wide public address system plus four individual sound systems in the chapel, cafeteria and large and small gyms. It’s important that students be able to hear messages regardless of where they are on campus, not only for information or so that they can hear a homily, but also for safety purposes.

Increasing financial aid has been a continuous goal of the school. It's most important in carrying on the tradition of Saint John Baptist De La Salle, who sacrificed a life of privilege to help educate children who could not afford a strong, Catholic education. The school distributed about $750,000 in tuition assistance to families for the current school year and hopes to move that figure to $850,000 for the 2017-18 school year to assist more families in sending their children to Bishop Kelley.

Setting higher goals has paid off in the past. In 2015-16, BiK surpassed its goal of $425,000 by $10,000. Let's make 2016-17 a record year for our Believe in Kelley annual fund. Thank you to those who have given already. If you have yet to give, please consider a donation. Click here to make a gift to Believe in Kelley.

Let's make a Bishop Kelley education affordable to more families and students during the coming year. Through increased tuition assistance, we can make sure many more students attend BK, so we can prepare them for college and beyond.
